How a Ductless System can Help You This Summer

Summer is here, and hopefully you already have a good air conditioning system to keep you cool throughout the warmest months of the year. If you’re still in the market for an air conditioner, though, you should consider the benefits of a ductless system. Let’s take a look at ductless air conditioning, and how it can help keep you cool this summer.

Ductless Air Conditioners

A ductless air conditioner is a heat pump that, as you might have guessed, doesn’t use ducts. Instead, an air handler is installed in each room of the home that needs air conditioning. Each air handler has its own thermostat, which helps it operate separately from the rest of the system. Up to four indoor air handlers can be connected to a single outside unit. When in operation, the air handler evaporates refrigerant to absorb heat from the air in the room. Then, it sends the refrigerant to the outside unit to be condensed into liquid. This releases the collected heat out of the house.

Benefits of Ductless Air Conditioning

Ductless air conditioners are heat pumps, which means that they can change the direction in which refrigerant flows through their systems. This allows them to offer both heating and cooling functions. Being able to keep your home comfortable throughout the year using only one system is a huge advantage over the traditional format of one dedicated system per function.

Ductless systems also allow you a much finer degree of control over your indoor climate. With a ductless system, you never have to fight over a single thermostat with another member of your household again. A ductless system can make your home more comfortable, and more energy efficient.
